Functional Skills English Level 2
An engaging and comprehensive course that will teach you everything you need to pass Edexcel Functional Skills English Level 2
Course Fees From £270
Who is this course for and what’s it about?
Functional Skills Level 2 English is an alternative to IGCSE or GCSE English. It is often considered a substitute for an English GCSE, especially for practical or vocational college courses and apprenticeships, although I advise you to check with your college if this is the case for a course of your choosing.
With Functional Skills English Level 2 the focus is on problem-solving in real life situations. A student learns the English skills they’d need in everyday life, in other words, such as writing letters and emails. There are three parts to the qualification: two 75 minutes written exams and a speaking/listening component.
Because of the emphasis on practical English, this is a great choice for students who struggle with the subject, for whatever reason. If their chosen college or work path can accept this qualification in lieu of GCSE or IGCSE, it is an excellent choice.
This course itself consists of 8 chapters, which teach you all the reading and writing tasks you’ll need for the exam. All assignments and the mock exam are tutor-marked, with positive, constructive feedback being provided promptly. I give plenty of practical guidance, too, including exam technique. There’s a mock exam included in the course and the option of doing extra past paper practice (for a small extra fee). As with all my courses there is unlimited (within reason!) phone and email support.
Perhaps the biggest attraction of FSL2 is that although you can sit it at an exam centre, you can also take it online at home at a time of your choosing. The exams are shorter, too. Do bear in mind, though, that not every exam centre is able to offer the speaking, listening and communication test online. However I recommend Pass Functional Skills who can facilitate all exam components online https://passfunctionalskills.co.uk/
How is the course delivered?
As soon as you apply you will receive a welcome email and a link to enable you to download the full course in PDF format. There is also the option to purchase the course in book format, in addition to the pdf.
In addition to the course materials, you’ll have access to a complete audio version of the course in MP3 format along with a range of additional online resources to support your study, including Punctuation Pages.
Students work through the course independently and submit assignments by email (phone photos are fine).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does the course take?
It’s hard to be exact about how long it takes to do the course, but most students working with focus should complete within 6 months. That said, you can do it more quickly or take longer if you wish (there is no time limit on any of my courses).
What if I get stuck?
Pick up the phone or email me - I am here to help! If you have a block about a particular assignment, it is usually better to move on with the course and come back to it later. But do let me know.
Can I type my assignments?
Depending on the exam centre you choose, you can take the exam online and use a keyboard.
What about special educational requirements?
Edexcel are committed to all learners having equal access to their qualifications. If you have an exam centre that can cater for your special access arrangements, and can show it is your normal way of working, then yes.
